Background
The customer specializes in the development and deployment of intelligent warehousing equipment. In their system, inbound and outbound operations are controlled through embedded all-in-one terminals or arm-mounted tablet devices. The customer already has a Linux-based software platform and requires reliable hardware to integrate with the overall system. In their previous solution, the customer used an N3350 processor and a resistive touchscreen, which resulted in insufficient performance, poor touch experience, and an outdated industrial design. Additionally, the customer needed short-term data retention during unexpected power loss, requiring a system equipped with FRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory).

Solution
To support the customer's next-generation smart warehousing system upgrade, Vantron delivered two integrated, industrial-grade hardware solutions designed to seamlessly adapt to the customer's existing Linux-based software platform while addressing performance, usability, and reliability challenges.
The solution portfolio includes a 15.6-inch all-in-one industrial panel PC powered by the Intel® Alder Lake-N N97 processor, as well as the M100 industrial tablet based on the Intel® N3450 platform, configured with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB eMMC storage. Both solutions provide a significant performance uplift over the previously used N3350 platform, while maintaining low power consumption and long-term stability required for continuous warehouse operations.
Built on fanless architectures, the devices ensure silent and maintenance-free operation, making them well suited for embedded and arm-mounted installation scenarios commonly found in inbound and outbound logistics workflows. The 15.6-inch model features a fully laminated capacitive touch display, delivering improved touch responsiveness, enhanced durability, and a more refined industrial design—directly resolving the usability and appearance limitations of resistive touch solutions.
To meet the customer’s requirement for data retention during power loss, Vantron introduced a custom expansion module integrating FRAM and a USB controller, deployed via an M.2 interface. This innovative approach enables fast system integration and reliable short-term data preservation without requiring a complete motherboard redesign, significantly reducing R&D effort, NRE costs, and development timelines.
In addition, the systems support multiple mounting options, including embedded installation and arm-mounted configurations, allowing flexible deployment across different warehouse stations. Full Linux compatibility ensures smooth integration with the customer’s existing software ecosystem, accelerating system migration and minimizing application-level changes.
Overall, Vantron's solution successfully enhanced operational responsiveness, touch interaction quality, and product aesthetics, while delivering a cost-efficient upgrade path that supports scalability and long-term system evolution in smart warehousing environments.
Benefits
The high-performance processor and the fully laminated capacitive touchscreen provide better performance, improves touch sensitivity, and makes a attractive appearance. The innovative integration of FRAM and USB module helps achieve power-off data storage while avoiding the need to re-develop the mainboard, thus reducing R&D investment and NRE costs. Therefore, the solutions boost industrial productivity, enhance management efficiency, and save time and costs.
