The client is a U.S.-based health technology company focused on making vision care more accessible through automated vision-testing kiosks. Its solution is designed for high-traffic retail scenarios, enabling eligible users to complete a fast vision test and receive doctor-reviewed glasses prescriptions through a more convenient, appointment-free process.
They needed a reliable hardware and cloud-management foundation to support mass kiosk deployment, covering network connectivity, interactive display, edge computing, device monitoring, and remote maintenance.

With over 20 years of experience in embedded solutions, Vantron delivered an edge-to-cloud solution combining computing, display, networking, and remote device management. The solution integrated Vantron’s IBOX66 multimedia box PC, TMO156 open-frame touch monitor, R102 industrial 4G router, S108 industrial switch, and BlueSphere remote management cloud platform, enabling reliable kiosk operation, scalable remote management, reduced integration complexity, and faster kiosk terminal rollout from development to deployment.
1. Edge Computing and Interactive Display
Vantron IBOX66 multimedia box PC, based on a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 platform, features multiple display interfaces (eDP, LVDS, MIPI), extensive connectivity options, and rich I/O expansion. This provided a robust computing and connectivity foundation for the kiosk system. Paired with Vantron’s TMO156 open-frame touch monitor, they formed a compact, integrated kiosk terminal with a 10-point PCAP touchscreen, full HD video output, and open-frame installation, delivering a clean, flat, and user-friendly kiosk interface.
2. Industrial Networking for Distributed Retail Deployment
To ensure stable network connectivity across distributed retail locations, Vantron provided the R102 dual-Ethernet 4G industrial router and S108 industrial switch. The R102 provides flexible cellular and Ethernet connectivity, while the S108 offers plug-and-play Gigabit Ethernet expansion with low power consumption. They ensure reliable cloud communication and support remote monitoring and data transmission.
3. BlueSphere MDM for Kiosk Device Management
For simplified mass-deployment management, Vantron’s BlueSphere MDM platform enables centralized control of multimedia box PCs. Through BlueSphere, the customer can monitor kiosk terminal status, receive alerts, perform remote control and maintenance via SyncBlue, inspect logs via ADB, and manage software updates via OTA. Given that kiosks are deployed in high-traffic retail locations, the platform also supports kiosk-mode application lockdown for secure, consistent operation.
4. BlueSphere GWM for Communication Device Management
For communication devices, the BlueSphere GWM platform provides remote login, network-status monitoring, alerts, and maintenance. This allows the customer to proactively detect connectivity issues and reduce onsite troubleshooting costs.

The solution helped the client simplify system integration, enhance device manageability, and support their transition from product development to commercial deployment.
Compared with sourcing components from multiple vendors, the integrated solution reduced costs and shortened development cycles. After deployment, the kiosks have received positive market feedback, with annual demand expected at approximately 3,000 units.
