Background
The client is a leading provider of premium smart home solutions, currently seeking to develop a next-generation compact keypad, which features:
1. Extremely limited space for module integration;
2. Strict real-time requirements, as it controls the on/off functions of all home appliances;
3. Support for dozens of keypads connected to a single Base within a home;
4. Compatible with its existing motherboard, powered by the NXP i.MX 8M Mini processor.

Solution
To support customer’s development of a next-generation compact keypad panel for high-end smart home automation, Vantron delivered the MOB-AH-8108 Wi-Fi HaLow module, together with the USB-AH-8108 HaLow USB dongle, providing a production-ready and evaluation-friendly wireless solution tailored to extremely space-constrained designs.
The MOB-AH-8108 module, featuring a 19 mm × 16.5 mm ultra-compact form factor, was ideally suited for the limited internal space of the keypad panel. Its Wi-Fi HaLow–based connectivity addresses the project’s core requirements for low latency, high reliability, and the ability to support dozens of keypad devices connected to a single home base controller—a common scenario in large residential deployments.
To accelerate platform validation, Vantron enabled rapid compatibility verification between the customer’s target platform, NXP® i.MX 8M Mini, and the HaLow module. Using the USB-AH-8108 dongle, the customer was able to quickly connect the module to the mainboard via a standard USB 2.0 interface, significantly shortening the evaluation and early development cycle. In parallel, Vantron leveraged its existing technical expertise and standard board products based on NXP platforms to conduct pre-development and internal validation, further reducing integration risk.
Prior to final design-in, Vantron supplied evaluation kits for pre-validation testing, allowing Savant to confirm communication stability and responsiveness in the keypad application. To support the project timeline, Vantron also provided priority sample allocation, delivering 10 modules within three weeks to ensure uninterrupted progress during the critical early phase.
With deep expertise and leading resources in Wi-Fi HaLow technology, Vantron not only supplied a compact and high-performance wireless module, but also delivered close technical collaboration throughout the development process—helping the customer move efficiently from concept validation to product implementation in a demanding smart home environment.

Benefits
By delivering 10 modules in a timely manner, Vantron ensured R&D efficiency by preventing split prototyping and effectively reducing development time by 50%. Close collaboration with the client’s hardware team optimized system performance, resulting in a 15% increase in signal strength and significantly improving communication reliability. This successful engagement also strengthened the strategic partnership, with Vantron designated as the client’s primary ODM partner for wireless modules, supporting an annual demand forecast of over 5,000 units and opening additional opportunities in lighting control and other IoT applications.
