Background
The customer is a Fortune 500 enterprise with a strong presence in local services and instant retail, and a growing investment in autonomous driving technologies. They were developing a new generation of unmanned delivery vehicles designed to operate in residential communities, open urban roads, campuses, and industrial parks.
An intelligent HMI was required to serve as the primary interface for system interaction and control. Key requirements included:
• High-brightness automotive-grade HMI suitable for outdoor operation.
• Stable performance under conditions like high temp., high humidity, and rain.
• Responsive touch with water or gloves.

Solution
Leveraging its extensive experience in embedded computing and industrial display technologies, Vantron initially provided an off-the-shelf product for initial testing and proof of concept to accelerate validation. The customer highly recognized both the product performance and Vantron’s technical capabilities.
Based on a deep understanding of the customer’s autonomous delivery vehicle cockpit and intelligent interaction requirements, Vantron delivered a customized TPC-3588J 10.1-inch high-brightness HMI solution, tailored specifically for outdoor, vehicle-mounted applications.

Optimized Performance at Controlled Cost
The solution is powered by the Rockchip RK3588J platform, featuring a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor, paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. This configuration provides sufficient computing performance for vehicle HMI workloads while maintaining cost efficiency for large-scale deployment. The system supports a wide range of interfaces, including automotive Ethernet, RS232, HDMI, an integrated front-facing camera, and external camera expansion.
Designed for Outdoor and Mobile Environments
The TPC-3588J features a front-panel IP65-rated enclosure, a 10-point capacitive touchscreen, supporting interactive touch even with water or gloves. The display offers full HD native resolution and 800-nit brightness for clear visibility even under strong light. With a wide operating temperature of-30℃~+85℃, enabling stable operation in harsh environments.
Automotive-Grade Reliability
The solution is designed and validated in accordance with automotive standards. A reinforced structure—combining a metal middle frame with a durable rear housing—enhances mechanical strength, EMC performance, and vibration resistance. The product has successfully passed automotive DVP testing, meeting the reliability requirements for vehicle-mounted
Flexible Installation and Secure Connectivity
Multiple mounting points are reserved on the rear panel, allowing flexible installation via wall-mount, bracket-mount, or suspended configurations. All interfaces support lockable connectors, ensuring stable and secure connections in high-vibration environments.
Benefits
The customized HMI solution met the customer’s requirements on performance, reliability, and cost and has now entered mass production, with annual volumes exceeding 10,000 units.
This project also strengthened Vantron’s capabilities and experience in vehicle-grade HMI and autonomous mobility applications, further expanding its presence in the automotive and transportation market.
